My first year at college.

Here are some lesson's I learned, and can only be LEARNED at college.

(moving in Aug 16 2008)
1. Pick your moving in outfit wisely.
You will always be that girl that wore tye-dye on the first day.
2. Make your parents shop for you and take you out to eat.
Parents are very valuable. They have the ability to stock your frig much better than you can. And you need them to take you to lunch with your friends, because that is just the nice thing to do.
3. You will die, or get really skinny if you are lazy.
When you are feeling really ambitious, GO TO THE STORE! I never took advantage of my "go getter" attitude. So every other time I would just lay in my bed hungry, but to lazy to do anything about it.
4. Be flexible. (that's what she said)
You are in college. When people come over just know they are going to be touching your stuff. You have to be able to speak UP for yourself, but you also need to be nice and welcoming. Finding this middle is rough, but then becomes a habit, or constant battle.
5. Pick friends wisely.
The social aspect of college is very important. It allows you to get out of your shell, and place where you have always had the same friends. It is never to late to make new friends and to go and meet new people. It is also fun to know everyone walking down the street.
6. Books.
You have to buy them? This is an important concept. Sometimes people don't realize this and come to class unprepared! It would be HELPFUL for people to point this out.
7. Homesick Happens.
Well, sometimes big family events are going on and you can't attend. Other times you are in an impromptu rain dance, and that only happens at school.
8. Sleep whenever you can.
Sometimes you won't sleep for 18 hours. So take a nap. Don't be afraid to not join in the fun. Sleeping is good. If you go to bed early one night, you aren't going to be missing anything. It will all happen again the next night.
9. Boys BOYS bOyS.
Get ready for the explosion of relationships, and bad dates. Sometimes you give awkward side hugs, and bad first kisses. The most important thing to remember is that is will happen again. And you SHOULDN'T laugh at people going through a bad date, because it will soon happen to you. And you don't need a bunch of guys, you only need one.
10. Going to a "party".
If you get invited to a party, think twice. It isn't like One Tree Hill. It is kinda dumb and people will throw up, sometimes on parts of you. Not worth it.
11. Beauty School Students.
Befriend them. Come home at the end of the year with a COMPLETELY different look. It is very fun and a tad useful.
12. Bringing people home.
It is stressful and a little intimidating. Have friends to help you, it helps out more than you think!
13. Have a question always on hand.
For example, some that where used this year. "What Disney princess would you be?" "If you could have ANY animal as a pet, what would it be?" "Pick a different name for me." It is just fun to see how other people think, and opens doors for stories.
14. Don't ever kid about killing your roommates pet.
They will always blame you if one of them happens to get really fat and almost die, even when you are innocent.
15. Do things with your roommates.
Even when you don't like or really understand them, the more you try and get to know them the better friends you all become.
16. Laugh when there is nothing else to do.
Sometimes things go so wrong. You can't wish to start over, or to be back in high school. You have to remember that this is an experience you need to go through. And think that in 3 years, it won't MATTER if you got a C on a midterm.
17. Finals are hard.
Like really, they aren't easy. You need to study. And listen. And go to class. Those that attend class, PASS.
18. Make the teachers your friends.
Unless you hate them. Then suck up.
19. Call your mom.
If you don't then when you come home she will send you on a guilt trip that will last a lot longer than you ever thought possible. And call your grandma too. DON'T FORGET GRANDMA.
20. Enjoy yourself.
Make fun happen. And sometimes you don't even have to try.

These are just 20 lessons. But, it is what I am walking away with this year.
