enchilada night.

Today Ashli made enchilada's! Yummm! This is my FAVORITE night! I love when she cooks period.

But her enchiladas are so scrumdilicious. Really.

And my new favorite past time is shooting ants with my squirt gun. They crawl up our walls our side and then you spray them and, BAM! Gone faster than they were running.

Good news, our AC is working again. We went a day and a half without it. It was HoT hOt HoT in our apartment.

For the past two days I have only been wearing my bathing suit. And I plan to continue this, at least till the river next Friday.

Pictures? My camera is muerta. So no pictures. Although... I have been back to the Beauty School, so, when you see a picture I will be maybe a bit different.

One more day of class, girls night and 3 days of finals and I am FINISHED!!!!

My first year at college.

Here are some lesson's I learned, and can only be LEARNED at college.

(moving in Aug 16 2008)
1. Pick your moving in outfit wisely.
You will always be that girl that wore tye-dye on the first day.
2. Make your parents shop for you and take you out to eat.
Parents are very valuable. They have the ability to stock your frig much better than you can. And you need them to take you to lunch with your friends, because that is just the nice thing to do.
3. You will die, or get really skinny if you are lazy.
When you are feeling really ambitious, GO TO THE STORE! I never took advantage of my "go getter" attitude. So every other time I would just lay in my bed hungry, but to lazy to do anything about it.
4. Be flexible. (that's what she said)
You are in college. When people come over just know they are going to be touching your stuff. You have to be able to speak UP for yourself, but you also need to be nice and welcoming. Finding this middle is rough, but then becomes a habit, or constant battle.
5. Pick friends wisely.
The social aspect of college is very important. It allows you to get out of your shell, and place where you have always had the same friends. It is never to late to make new friends and to go and meet new people. It is also fun to know everyone walking down the street.
6. Books.
You have to buy them? This is an important concept. Sometimes people don't realize this and come to class unprepared! It would be HELPFUL for people to point this out.
7. Homesick Happens.
Well, sometimes big family events are going on and you can't attend. Other times you are in an impromptu rain dance, and that only happens at school.
8. Sleep whenever you can.
Sometimes you won't sleep for 18 hours. So take a nap. Don't be afraid to not join in the fun. Sleeping is good. If you go to bed early one night, you aren't going to be missing anything. It will all happen again the next night.
9. Boys BOYS bOyS.
Get ready for the explosion of relationships, and bad dates. Sometimes you give awkward side hugs, and bad first kisses. The most important thing to remember is that is will happen again. And you SHOULDN'T laugh at people going through a bad date, because it will soon happen to you. And you don't need a bunch of guys, you only need one.
10. Going to a "party".
If you get invited to a party, think twice. It isn't like One Tree Hill. It is kinda dumb and people will throw up, sometimes on parts of you. Not worth it.
11. Beauty School Students.
Befriend them. Come home at the end of the year with a COMPLETELY different look. It is very fun and a tad useful.
12. Bringing people home.
It is stressful and a little intimidating. Have friends to help you, it helps out more than you think!
13. Have a question always on hand.
For example, some that where used this year. "What Disney princess would you be?" "If you could have ANY animal as a pet, what would it be?" "Pick a different name for me." It is just fun to see how other people think, and opens doors for stories.
14. Don't ever kid about killing your roommates pet.
They will always blame you if one of them happens to get really fat and almost die, even when you are innocent.
15. Do things with your roommates.
Even when you don't like or really understand them, the more you try and get to know them the better friends you all become.
16. Laugh when there is nothing else to do.
Sometimes things go so wrong. You can't wish to start over, or to be back in high school. You have to remember that this is an experience you need to go through. And think that in 3 years, it won't MATTER if you got a C on a midterm.
17. Finals are hard.
Like really, they aren't easy. You need to study. And listen. And go to class. Those that attend class, PASS.
18. Make the teachers your friends.
Unless you hate them. Then suck up.
19. Call your mom.
If you don't then when you come home she will send you on a guilt trip that will last a lot longer than you ever thought possible. And call your grandma too. DON'T FORGET GRANDMA.
20. Enjoy yourself.
Make fun happen. And sometimes you don't even have to try.

These are just 20 lessons. But, it is what I am walking away with this year.

Random Facts.

Here are some things I think to write about.
But then I never do because there isn't much to say:

I like trucks better than cars.
I am pretty sure all boys do is sleep and take their pants off.
One time I ran someone off the road. (accident)
If you really care about someone you will call until they answer.
When in a water gun fight, make sure your victim doesn't have access to a hose.
Don't ever wear a tye-dye shirt when moving in. (your roommate will NEVER forget)
Mom's have the answers for EVERYTHING. They are always right and you should just accept it.
Crying helps, but doesn't solve anything.
I still hope that Elane and Jerry's relationship exist.
When in doubt, just say "si" or "bueno".
A black man currently holds the highest position in the world. (apparently racism isn't the "in" thing.)
My top super power would be stretchy arms.
Country music makes you re-exam your life.
Sometimes you need to take yourself out of a situation, completely.
Summer plans can get you through the last month of school.
A 3 year old might be my funniest friend.
I would rather dance to Mexican music any day.
Best friends are those you know will still be there for you in a year.
Everyone should make a "wish list" and write down ALL the things they want to do.
Then do them.
Holding hands is more intimate than cuddling.
My roommate's frog almost died. I was more worried than anyone.
I wish I had a dart gun, every single day.
Black nails, well I can't explain that one.
A little sunflower tattoo would be cute. (are you thinking henna? I am)
Getting mail is ALWAYS more fun than sending mail.
Killing ants is the best cure.

5 hours later....

Well it might not be Seattle Grace,

but Thatcher throws together a mean ER!

Basically here is what happened. I woke up to a phone call from Meigen. I could barely understand her, being that she crying. I went over to see that she was soo so sick in bed. She was only at fire temperature and couldn't stop coughing. After receiving a Priesthood blessing from Keith and Morgan, I took her to the emergency room. Before we left I called her mom to get all of the medical information and didn't realize until the ER what I wrote it down on. The paper had my scribbles to one side and a large cartoon drawing on the other side. I laughed when the lady took it to make a copy.

Soon poor little sick Meigen had a room and was getting an IV for being so dehydrated. Normal pulse is 70, her pulse was 149. So they stuck her a few times. In the arm but then in the hand. OUCH! It hurt me just watching. Meigen is such a trooper. She said, "Don't look Brittany." Every time there was a needle she warned me. (and even when she threw up) She is a really was a good and cute sick patient. They took her for some x-rays. During that time I made a hand balloon for her. (A harder task than seems.)

We finally found out that she has the icky pneumonia. Oh NO! But then after some more IV with medicine, and then some more liquid.... we were ready to leave. After waiting forever, and plus my phone died... we left. Meigen is still not feeling so well. But I am happy to report that she did just eat 2 crackers! And almost drank all of her sprite and water! So anyhow keep Meigen in your prayers. Hopefully she will be feeling well soon!

"The Special Crew"

Amigos

AJ MIKEY ME

MY WEEKEND, was SO much FUN! This is the 5th time I have joined my home Stake to go to Caborca, Mexico on a service project. And next year I plan on having quite a few followers join. SO much fun. Alyssa Jesser (AJ) made the 5 hour drive with my parents and me. I am SO happy she came. I don't think we ever stopped laughing. Except for the few short hours that we enjoyed some shut eye. But even then when we woke up, we had crazy stories about bugs in our ears or the cold night. (Well maybe those were just my stories?) But we made some sweet friends and renewed a lot of old friendships. AJ who is not LDS learned so much this weekend. As we told our friends about the adventures she made sure to use all the correct word choice like, "Stake Center" (she was sad to learn there was NO steak involved) and passing of the sacrament (she also was concerned the boys didn't wash their hands), the titles of all the leaders in the church (towards the end she just started calling them "the important guy"). Needless to say, we never stopped laughing or talking.

Friday:
DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE.
It was a lot of driving and pictures. We arrived in Caborca, Mexico at around 6:30ish. I was so happy to see the familiar church building. I have missed it these past years. We met all the Mexican church members and started the auction. The "Auction" is one of my most favorite parts. It starts with an American family standing up and then after the announcer gets an offer a Mexican family stands up and accepts the family to live in their house. SO funny. We stayed with our good friends Poncho and Letti and their two sons, Poncheto and Mikey. AJ and I stayed up way late just talking about everything under the sun.

Saturday:
We woke up to early. We had the BOMBEST breakfast. AJ and I were part of the "Special Crew" so we needed to be at the site at 7AM where everyone else arrived at 8AM. We walked from the house over in our TOMS. I love that we walked. Caborca is such a cool little city. It has so many different and diverse homes and streets. I love that NONE of the houses are cookie cutter with the same bland shades of brown. They were painted bright colors all different. Then we got to the Red Cross building. We were going to paint the outside and inside. It was lots of fun. The very first job AJ and I had on the "special crew" was suppose to be to climb on the roof and mask off the windows. Well, because we are both girls no one wanted us to. Michael and Tyler climb up there and put the boards up on the tin roof so they could walk around. Well after they accomplished this task they entertained themselves by throwing rocks at me. (Maturity hit them hard.) So AJ and I jumped up to go and mask. We then found
painting jobs. Our good little Mexican friend Mikey played with us. The kid is a monkey. After we painted for about 6 hours we finished and headed to our host house. Everyone went to the beach, but like any all American girls, we requested to go shopping. We bought bracelets for everyone we thought of and visited the Mission. It was very pretty. Then we headed to the FIESTA!

FIESTA:
Basically my FAVORITE part! Mexican dancing is so fun. Alyssa and I made some Mexican friends and they started teaching us to dance. It soon turned into a HUGE circle. Brother Schroeder danced next to me. Bahaha. Seriously watching him was very entertaining. He was so serious in his moves. AJ busted out and I don't think I ever stopped laughing. It definitely turned into a FULL body workout. With the dancing and the laughing and the food. That night we went with our new Mexican friends to see the Mission again and play on the see saw. SO FUN. We fit 20 people into a van. It was very interesting. I had so much fun. I laughed harder than I ever had.

Sunday:
We went to church and then said our goodbye's. We took a million pictures and hurried to get back on the road to P-town. It was a great trip.

Sorry if this blog is very vague. I can't even start to write all the amazing things that happened. I love Caborca! I love the people. I love I made new friends, American and Mexican. I just had a blast. Next year we are bringing all the girls! I also apologize for this blog sounding like a 7 year old wrote it. It is very late and I think that if I don't post it today, well just won't ever get done. I have still yet to catch up on my sleep. All together my driving time this weekend was about 18 hours. Looks like it is time to sleep. I have started to dream in Spanish now, is that normal?
