Three days, two nights....... that's what we were told.
WHOA!
Nope it was 3 DAYS 4 NIGHTS.
Our bus left at 2AM we were told it was going to leave at 130. we were told to be there BY 1AM. we were encouraged to come to the bus by 1230AM to find good seats.
Well I drove with Taylor Webb. So we left at 11:30 PM. I was ready by 11PM. 2AM PEOPLE! We were insanely earlier.
Anyways we were picked up at Arrowhead Mall. The bus didn't really leave until after 2 (that set off the trip late, and we continued that pattern throughout our travels) I hadn't slept for around 19 hours. I was tired. Taylor was my sitting partner through the entire trip. I had my cute new PINK luggage. My PINK backpack and my pillow. Sleeping was not that hard for me, but I was really excited. That was night 1.
We stopped at someplace (no idea where) and was given 60 minutes to eat. That's more than enough time, but we all had the same thought process. We all went to Mc D's inside of Denny's. It was insane lines and took forever. And I really didn't want to see any of these people again and they really didn't care to see me either. So we stood in our first line. Ate and got back on the bus for the next couple hours to MAGIC MOUNTAIN!
We arrived at Magic Mountain. I am not going to lie, I am a little bit of a HUGE chicken. Although spending 3 seconds with me at this particular park would have told you that. But I tried hard to keep up with those around me. It was three of us (odd numbers are hard) me, Taylor, Rachel. So we decided to go on the newest exciting ride first... X2. OK HELLO! apparently I need a new lesson on peer pressure.
We stood in our second line, 2 hours. Then finally we got to the front. I think I was shaking as I waited for the gate to open and to strap myself into, which I was convinced at the time was, DEATH. Taylor saw that I hadn't spoken a word for the last half hour and said to me, as the ride filled with thrilled passengers returned, "look that little boy did it!" I looked over and saw this tiny boy, probably about 6 or 7. As he stood up you saw throw-up all down his shirt. So not only now was I afraid for my life, now I worried that on the off chance I survived that I would EMBARRASS myself but throwing up. Lets say I have never more quiet in my life.
The ride was fast. Can't really say much about it because other than the 2 times I squinted my eyes open and slammed them. I had them closed so tight and I was squeezing my arms around my harness hard that when it did stop, during my fits of random laughter in celebration of still living, my eyes were tearing up and I had my harness imprints in my arms. Taylor next to me kept repeating "I couldn't breathe. No seriously, I couldn't breathe" Umh. That was an enjoyable ride.
We went on a few more, or I did. Then I had to chance to ride on 3 more, but I decided why put myself through that agony. So I was the bag holder. It was nice. After spending like 6 hours there we got on the bus to arrive at our hotel. I think it was called the Double Tree Hotel. It was nice. It was me, Taylor, Rachel and a friend named Stephanie who roomed with us. And the rest of the forty students from my school all stayed on floor 7 with us. Being around my peers or ex-peers, whatever they are, made me feel more Mormon than I ever had in my life.
After beauty Queens Rachel and Taylor FINALLY got ready (I was oddly early for EVERYTHING on this trip) we went to the "Block" it was this cool shopping mall across the street from the hotel. We ate around 10:30 at TGI Fridays. Which we saw EVERYONE eating to. Goldwater students all have the same BRAIN or something. Little creepy.
On the way back to the hotel we witness the fight in the parking lot. Now during this trip I was never homesick, I didn't have time. But at this moment I really wanted my dad (remember its like 11:30ish). There was two security guys on the cool scooters that have the fat two wheels. It sounded like one of then called a guy getting into his truck "whitetrash". So that guy was a little upset and starting yelling things that would really hurt your eyes if I wrote, but the point of his message was he wanted to rip his head off. The other security guy was close but doing donuts on his scooters. Us three girls quickly ran to the outer sidewalk. If it wasn't so tense I would have laughed, it was the oddest picture in the world. As we got on the the side walk, the guy had been chasing the security man around while he was on his scooter, while the other still was doing donuts. Then about 3 huge security vans pulled up on all sides, it looked like something on COPS. night 2.
The next morning we woke up around 8:30am. Ready to go to Newport Beach. We left about 10ish, again late. It took about an hour to get there. The first thing we (3 of us) wanted to do was parasailing. So as soon as we got off the bus, that's were we went. We needed 4 min to go, 6 max. We had people in mind to go with us, but last minute they flaked. So we need people quick. We asked these two boys that we saw walking to come with us, they said yes, so we were the first one out.
It takes awhile to get from the harbor to the ocean. As were riding along on this little boat thing, it occurred to me, I had never been on a boat before, at least I couldn't recall. So again the Magic Mountain fear filled me. Oh goody. But me and Taylor were up first. I was in the front and she was behind. It was SO much fun. And really wasn't scary. It was like a ginormous swing. I loved it. They dropped us real low close to see otters and then later yelled shark at us and dropped us in the water. Haha. I was so excited. I believe that was my favorite part of the entire trip. On our way back in we saw dolphins and were they filmed Gilligan's Island and lots of other things that I have already forgotten. But it was super fun.
So then we went to the beach. I had hoped to get some sun. But Taylor had the 150SPF sunblock, so I think I repelled the sun like a mirror. Rachel brought her Skim Board. She and Taylor were determined to find boys to teach them. I had tried skim boarding the previous year, it was a painful experience I had no desire to repeat. Plus I was cold so I laid in sun. Well it took then like 3 minutes to find boys. Typical. I came on the trip for Disneyland. My friends may of had other expectations. It was entertaining to watch at least. After 20 hours (maybe it was only an hour) with these fellows, we (Rachel) exchanged numbers and we went SHOPPING. Saw a little more of the beach and then went to the hotels.
Now that night we were suppose to be at Disneyland at 10:30PM until 5AM. So the smart thing would have been to sleep. But the girl thing was to go shopping. And that's exactly what we did. I bought a pink beautiful hat to match my shoes and clutch perfectly. Pamella said it looks dorky, and she wouldn't be caught dead in it, but I am in love.
Well then the favorite boy got invited to dinner with us. Gag me. He was nice. We went to Johnny Rockets, my choice! then back to the hotel, no fights the night we were walking with a boy. Anyways we got all ready and were on the bus at 10! night 3.
Well Disneyland pretty much
broke my heart this trip. It was about 10 minutes away from our hotel. We were suppose to enter around 11. We didn't get off the bus till 12. The security was insane. We didn't get on our first ride until 2. I was tired, disappointed and bummed. Basically our night was fill
disappointment on so many levels. The only good part was me and Rachel met some kids that were really cool and we ended up seeing them a lot. It was a night filled with drama, high school students. and we didn't get back until 6AM and we went right to sleep.
Well around 9AM we woke and had to pack and be down stairs at 10. I was still early. And my stuff like covered the room.
I rarely am this impressed with myself. Basically I am an amazing person. Then we took the 3 minute bus ride to
Knotts Berry Farm. I was so tired, I would have rode anything, I had no energy left to be scared. So that's what I did. I went along with everything. But if I stood in line or sat to long I got
insanely tired.
I went on this one ride that breaks more often that it works. And its the kind that you are scared stiff the entire time. Yup. Got on that baby no problem. I was so tired.
Finally got back on the bus. Going home! I could see the finish line. That was the shortest ride in my life. I have never slept so easily. We stopped at the same eating place as before (still no idea where). I was
EXTREMELY mean. Like nothing you have ever seen before. I was tired. I had gotten at the most 5 hours of sleep in like the past 2 day. I had the "I hate the world" look very clearly on my face. Yet that made more people want to talk to me. Again we went to Mc D's.
I stood in line and grunted when people wanted to me to respond to the comment "you look like you just woke up".
HOLD THE PHONE! we have a genius in our mist.
WOW and you are only a high school graduate? Has
Harvard found out about you. quick get then on the phone.
Seriously? I got that many times.
Idiots. I was with
morons. Anyways I was in a really
cranky mood. I think I told Taylor I
hated everyone, didn't even exclude her from that statement. Not my best moment but lucky I got back on the bus quickly to return to my sleep. night 4.
And the next thing I heard was to call our parents.
HEAVEN! we were home. 1:30AM. I missed my bed, my towels, my keys, my purse. Everything. It was fun, just very tiring, but at least the ride home was fast,
I loved that part.
